I worked a 1/2 day (morning o n Friday) & was off all weekend for the 1st time in a long time.

Kinja'd!!!

Got my exhaust repaired, no more hose clamps holding it. Some new hangers, & the tip that has been in my trunk for the past 3 years was finally put on.

Getting my fog lights tinted yellow later this week, not more useless 6000k fog spread. My new tires should arrive this week too.

Boring but fair. I didn’t want a complicated weekend and I got that.

What is the "trunk tip" you speak of? Also, yellow fog lights should look good.

It's nice having a weekend of doing nothing.

Smokey. I haven’t really been able to get outside to do anything because the air is trying to kill me. I did get some stuff around the house fixed up, but no wrenching. My wife does appreciate that her bathroom sink drain works normally, though, so I earned some spousal points.

Yesterday was for chores. I did a little maintenance on the WRX so I can get it inspected and registered. The rest of the day was yard work. The garden area was overgrown with weeds and I had to cut down a sapling that insists on growing between one of the raised beds and the fence. We’re just about ready to plant fall crops.

I worked all weekend on a Bluetooth amp installation that got nowhere. I did quite a bit of planning, figured out all the connections I need to make and where to go through the firewall , and then this afternoon realized my soldering iron isn’t nearly hot enough to manage a 10 gauge wire.

At least I got some soldering practice and know how to wrap it up next time I have a spare day.

New wheels, tires and brakes! And I painted the calipers silver so they’d look nice.

The wheels are Ford Performance wheels for a Ford Focus. Flow formed and only 23.25 pounds which isn’t bad for a 19 inch wheel. And only $180 each! Tires are  Nokian Zline AS. So far a huge improvement over the 10,000 mile Pirellis on the old wheels, two of which were bent by a giant pothole.

Ugh I need to fix my exhaust. It’s currently held on by the two rear hangars and a lot of hope.

Weekend was good, just packing and getting everything ready for a week long river trip on the green

Been working on installing linux on a computer I had laying around. Smoke in the air has made strenuous outdoor activity a poor life choice, so something to do. Currently trying and failing to get both Minecraft and Sim City 3000 to work on that machine. I suppose Im a masochist for not just using windows to do so. But I figure learning some linux is a useful skill anyways.

At least Ubuntu seems to function much better than Windows at normal web browsing stuff.

I bought the exhaust tip 3 years ago, threw it in my trunk. Kinda forgot about it, finally had it put on.

Mine had some JB weld on it too.  I'm making an attempt to fix minor stuff right.

I now work on Saturdays during the school year except rare occasions, but this Saturday my “work” was  doing a training with the Forest Service so my school could adopt a 16-mile section of trail. We chatted about best practices, techniques, and safety for an hour then did trail work for about 3 hours, it was a 10/10 perfect day for weather, and I got home around 3:30 pm free and clear of all other work-related duties until Monday. Oh and the group I was with included some of the best people I work with. Could have been a worse work day, that’s for sure.

Today I went mountain biking with my family which was a blast. Then we spent the afternoon around our property, playing with the neighbors and biking around the neighborhood, watching some football, and doing some chores. All in all, excellent. Now back to work tomorrow, by which I mean 2 meetings and about 5 hours of class planning for my Tue/Thurs classes. If it’s nice, I expect I’ll do at least some of that outside.

Was working at 3AM on Saturday... but at least I got to shoot my match on Friday night.

Then spent yesterday doing house chores and spent today at the range again practicing and setting up my new pistol, installing an optic on it.

This weekend I learned that the extra $300/wk unemployment money is history, so it’s back to poverty. Sure, they can take the money from FEMA (pre west coast on  fire, naturally) , but of course they won’t take any money from that stupid wall, you know, the money they stole from the military.

By now you’d think that Mexico would be paying for it to keep American idiots out of their country. Soon I think we can expect Canada to start building one...
